ISCAR DEEP HOLE DRILLS GO FASTER AND DEEPER

With ISCAR’s radically new solid carbide deep hole drills, you can safely drill to 22 times diameter and reach bottom10% faster than with other solid carbide drills – and six times faster than with HSS drills. This capability can debottleneck many high-volume operations in automotive powertrain manufacture, including crankshaft oil holes. The deep-hole drilling station no longer needs to slow down a transfer line or stop it completely because a drill breaks.

Other target applications include deep holes in camshafts, connecting rods, cylinder heads, cylinder blocks, hydraulic blocks and die & mold work. A combination of features helps the twist drills cut faster, straighter and deeper, last longer and expel chips more surely.
A special high-strength core creates a more durable drill point and allows for deeper flutes, enlarging the exit path for chips. Also for easier chip clearance, the helix is 30°.

The drill tip itself has a 140° positive-point, four-margin design to preserve the edge, reduce thrust forces and aid centering and tracking. A post-coat polishing step on the flutes, margins and cutting edges reduces friction and torque that can easily snap a drill. To further reduce friction, flutes are radially relieved, which reduces the diameter behind the tip and rubbing with the walls.

Internal coolant holes accommodate all types of cutting fluids and operating conditions, including MQL.

The new drills are available in standard diameters ranging from
5 to 10 mm, in 20 and 22 length to diameter ratios. Special sizes are available on request. All are made of IC908, a 10% cobalt submicron carbide grade, and come with a TiAlN PVD coating, and they can be reconditioned.
