CHAMDRILL 8XD
Standard CHAMDRILLs are now available as 8xD. ISCAR has introduced a new family of standard CHAMDRILLs with an extended drilling depth-to-diameter ratio capability of 8 times.
The diameter range of DCM 8xD drill bodies is 10 to 20 mm in increments of 1 mm, in whole sizes only. Each drill body can carry a 1 mm diameter range of the drilling heads.
The flute angle of DCM 8xD drills is 30°. The hole straightness of the new 8xD drills, under recommended cutting conditions, can be within
0.06 mm.
Due to the extended depth-to-diameter ratio, the head life on DCM 8xD drills, under certain conditions, is shorter than when using the 3xD and 5xD drills.
User Guide
• The recommended cutting data for 8xD drills is 20% lower than the cutting speed used for 3xD and 5xD drills.
• We strongly recommend the use of 3xD DCM drill of the same diameter to drill a centering pre-hole. The use of the centering pre-hole improves hole location, accuracy, roundness, straightness and surface finish.

• DCM 8xD drills are not recommended for drilling gummy materials such as low carbon steel.
• We recommend the use of internal coolant with at least 15 bar pressure.
• In case of stationary applications on lathes, a high degree of radial and angular alignment between the chuck and the turret is
required. The ISCAR/ETM GYRO device is suggested for this adjustment.
• Before clamping a new drilling head, apply some oil in the drill pocket. This will reduce pocket wear and increase the number of
indexing cycles.
Advantages
• The DCM 8xD drills can be used for blind as well as through-hole applications.
• With CHAMDRILL, the user may use a range of drilling heads, in one millimeter diameter range, on the same drill body.
This is a huge price advantage when compared to 8xD solid carbide drills.
